The internet is one great big online marketplace and selling your car has never been easier. But an important factor in ensuring your sale is successful is to get your sales listing right - and an important factor in getting a listing right is to include good quality photographs. Here are some tips for taking great photos of the vehicle you want to sell.

Clean your car first

It is fairly obvious, but making sure your car is sparkling and clean is important. You want to make it look as much like a showroom car as possible.

Do your research

Before you take any photos yourself, go online and look at the listings on a car sales site. Think about the ads that stand out because the photos are good. Examine the types of shots that are being used. You can try and emulate these yourself. Also, keep your eyes peeled for poorer images - ones that are blurred or pixelated - as these are the mistakes you want to avoid making yourself.

Avoid sunlight

Many cameras will not perform at their best when there is bright sunlight. Glare can be a real issue with the quality of the images. Avoid shooting directly into the sun. A cloudy, overcast day will provide the best light conditions overall.

Angles

Take shots from a range of angles. These will make your listing stand out. Make sure the shots are taken from far enough away so the whole of the car features in the shot.

Use a DSLR/SLR camera
Smartphone cameras are great for selfies, and in general the quality of them is improving all the time, but they are still limited when compared with the quality of images that a DSLR or SLR camera will produce. If you don't own one yourself, see if you can borrow one.
